How do I care for my sandals and espadrilles?Updated 3 years ago

Hey Marly sandals are our faithful summer companions. At the beach, in the pool, on long walks or when exploring foreign cities, the genuine leather upper sole suffers, so footprints are normal at some point, especially with light-coloured leather. Sea sand, salt, sunscreen, dust and sweat: sandal soles have to withstand a lot. Here are a few care tips that will keep your favourites looking clean for longer:

After a long summer day, wipe the soles with a damp cloth and remove dust and sweat. Use a light leather lotion at regular intervals.

In addition to shoe care, appropriate foot care also helps. If your feet sweat a lot in summer, foot powder is recommended. This deodorises the foot, helps with unpleasant odours and can prevent unattractive discolouration.

Our Hey Marly espadrilles also need some care. Before wearing them for the first time, we recommend that you treat the entire shoe, including the baselayers, with our impregnating spray THE UMBRELLA, so that dust and dirt do not become too firmly embedded in the fibres. This can be repeated in between. Should there still be a stain or two in the fabric, a damp cloth with a drop of colourless washing-up liquid or clear glass cleaner dabbed lightly into the fabric will help.
